How I Relax (Do teachers every really relax?)

Hello friends! I'm linking up with Kristin from The Therapeutic Teacher for her "Favorite Way to Relax" linky party!

I think I was born this way, but I find it very difficult to truly relax! As soon as I sit down with a bowl of popcorn to watch "Steel Magnolias" and relax, my brain starts thinking of things I have to do or ideas about how I can teach a specific lesson on Monday with my kiddos.
However, it is VERY easy to relax when we go to Maine in the summer. It is one of my favorite places on earth, and I just blogged about this last week. You can check out that post here. But I will share a few more pictures of past years' good times in Ogunquit, "a beautiful place by the sea".

Even on rainy (and sometimes chilly) years, it's the best place to be!

We always look forward to trolley rides around town. All of the trolleys have names that rhyme - Molly, Lolly, Rolly, Polly, Holly, Dolly, Jolly, etc...so cute. We also get a Christmas ornament each year with the name of the trolley we ride first. Just a simple tradition!

Down the road a bit is Perkin's Cove - so peaceful and cute. We eat at the Lobster Shack and shop at some of the little shops in the cove. We walk across the drawbridge and watch for boats to come into the cove too. I'm sitting here typing this and looking at all these pictures, desperately wanting to be there RIGHT NOW.

Then we walk on the Marginal Way. It's a beautiful little walkway right by the sea. It's about a mile walk between Ogunquit and Perkin's Cove. Amazing views and it's so peaceful!

Oh, and did I mention that George and Barbara Bush have a vacation home near Ogunquit? A few years ago, we were watching some of the boats in Perkin's Cove, and he and Barbara and an entourage of people showed up to eat lobster! It was wild! I've never been that close to a U.S. President before! It was pretty cool! Plus, you can drive to Kennebunkport and see his house. It's huge!

The best part, though, is the beach! It is where I read books FOR FUN and I can actually focus on them. Just the waves and the seagulls in the background!

Me and my sweet husband! Great memories!

    1. You should totally put Maine on your bucket list. It's a beautiful state! I didn't start going there until I met my husband. They are from Montreal, Canada. They have been going there for vacation forever. It is absolutely my favorite place in the world!

  3. Oh my gosh! I love Ogunquit! I have had some fun times there. I am a huge Kennebunkport fan though - my family has been going there every summer since before I was born. My grandpa's cousin used to own the Beachwood Motel and Sandy Acres campground. I am going up for a couple days in August. When is the next time you're going up?

    1. Hey Bex!
We go in early July! I would love to go in the fall when all the leaves are turning. I would actually love to LIVE there, but everyone tells me I would hate the winters. (I know I wouldn't. I love winter!)
It's so funny - since I've written about Ogunquit, I've heard tons of people tell me they go there or they know about it. I have a bumper sticker/magnet that says OGT. When I tell people it stands for OGUNQUIT, they tell me they've never heard of it. I usually have to spell it for them! lol
      I'd totally go for a teacher/blogger meet-up any time of year! :)

  5. Hi Ashley! I was trying to figure out how you found Ogunquit since you're from Mississippi...then I saw your comment that your husband is from Canada! That explains it! I live in NH...but only about 20 minutes from Ogunquit. It's a beautiful little Maine town. We get SO MANY Canadian visitors in the summer. :o) It was fun seeing it through your eyes! I hope you have a great visit this year!

    1. Hi Karyn,
Thanks for leaving a comment! My husband's mom actually started going to OGT when she was a little kid, and her mother went there when she was younger. It's almost a family tradition being passed down. We love it there. I'm so happy to meet people who live close to OGT. I'm so jealous that you live only 15 minutes from there, but that whole region is beautiful! Thanks again!
